Difficult Swim

I did my final of two swims today. It was the hardest workout in the pool yet:
  • Warmup: 200 EZ; 2x50 kick
  • Workout: 2x50 fast; 100 steady [breadth every 6]
  • Workout: 4x50 fast; 200 steady [breadth every 5]
  • Workout: 6x50 fast; 300 steady [breadth every 4]
  • Cooldown: 100 breast
The 100 steady [breadth every 6] and the 200 steady [breadth every 5] were much harder than I thought going in. In fact - I had to catch my breadth a few times during the 200. Oddly, the fast 50s - which I usually dread - were the relatively easy part of the workout. The 300 steady [breadth every 4] was a good way to finish off - it felt relatively easy but was still a good swim. I also noticed my 'fast' 50 times are slowly going down - around 52-54 seconds for most of them today. And the steady times were just over a minute for most. The total workout is the most I've swam yet since getting back: 1600 total - 53 minutes.
