So Long February

Did an un-timed 6 miles today with Larry. Felt good, except for the return of a blister on my left foot. We have two more weeks of winter maintance runs befor hill workouts start (March 20th). I won't be sad to see February go.

Maintenance Run

Did 6.7 miles today before walking. Slow pace (~8:30). I'm still feeling the effects of whatever virus I've had and completely ran out of gas. Hopefully I'll be able to get 2 runs in next week. Oh what I've come to...

I'm ready for Winter to End

Now. Had a nasty run today. 6.14 miles at a 7:53 pace. I haven't sniffed 7:40 in 18 days. The weather looked good, but the wind picked up and made the mile around Avery Point difficult. It looks like Wednesday is going to be snowed out and more wind and cold for Thursday and Friday. It doesn't help that both kids have been sick for what seems to be forever, and college baseball is now in full swing down south. Lucky bastards.

It's Freezing Out

I went out today with Larry for yet another 6-miler. The air temp was around 20 deg., with a 7 deg wind-chill. Certain parts of me felt frozen by the end - actually hurt. Our pacing was horrible: 7:03, 7:43, 7:57, 7:41, 10:04 and 7:27 - avg was 7:57. Considering I lost ~2 minutes walking up the bitch, the overall pacing was good - and who can blame us for the fast start.

On another note, it has been 3 days since I did that polymetric training - my muscles really hurt for a good 2 days after that. This may be because I did it on the concrete surface of my basement (hey, it's warm), or because it is a great workout - likely a little of both.

Polymetric Training

Today, since the 'Feels Like' was topped out at 9 deg, I tried the Runner's World Polymetric training. In the issue, it was for hot days, but since I have no desire to go out, I tried it in my basement. It felt weird, but better than nothing. It's 3:37 PM, I'm going to go shower while the kids are still sleeping.

Pace Chart

Using the Running Times Pace Calculator, I've come up with the following:
  • Marathon Pace: 7:36
  • 1/2Marathon: 7:10
  • 10K Pace: 6:51
  • 5K Pace: 6:35
  • 3K Pace: 6:20
  • 1 Mile Pace: 5:55
These are all based on my Tarzan Brown time from last November. The 5K and Mile times I'll be aiming for in races in June and July, while the other paces I'll need to know for training.
