Fall Training - Winter Cold!

Did I say it was hot?  I biked in today in 40 degree cold!  6 days after 90 degree heat.  I did a 6.9 mile run yesterday from my house to fresh pond.  I thought I was running reasonably fast during the pond loop, but my ol'gps phone said: 7:50 and 7:44 for those miles.  What?  Anyway, biked in, did my normal slog-run today of 4.8 miles and then 12.5 miles biking round trip.  So 11.7 running and 12.5 biking.

Fall Schedule - Summer Heat.

Perfect training week.  Managed 7 miles Monday - which was also the nicest weather day of the week.  I needed to get going with the 'long runs' if I have a prayer of doing a half in the fall.  Followed that with a 4.8 miler on Tuesday.  A slog.  Legs were tired after the long run.  Took Wednesday off since it was 90 degrees and humid and I had a guy installing my garage door (and another guy cleaning gutters and chimneys; both turned out well).  Tuesday was also hot and humid - so I biked in.  Always tough to head out on the bike commutes - but always feels good to do it.  Friday we did hills again at Beacon hill: 45, 60, 75, 90, 75, 60, 45 - which I think is around 7:30 (again).  The week was finished once again (third week straight) with the strength work (67 minutes).  So to recap: 'long', 'hills', 'bike', 'strength' and one slog run.  About as perfect as it gets.  Feels good to get in a schedule!

Beacon Hills

Larry and I crossing Longfellow Bridge.
Ran Hills today for the first time in a year and a half.  We headed into boston (cambridge is too flat) and did a ladder we just made up: 40,40,60,80,80,60,40,40 - a little over 7 minutes of hills.  I'll have to look-up some of the old team workouts to see where we're at.  Gorgeous day for it.  Yesterday I did the bike in and back (through Harvard now) - for a little over 12 miles biking.  Ran tuesday and wednesday as well - so total mileage is 14.6 (18.7 counting converted bike mileage).
