MIT Track for Intervals.

Lar and I headed over to the MIT track today at lunch to do our first interval session of '13:  200,400,600,800 and back on down.  With the phone I couldn't really keep great track of the pace, but I think the faster ones were ~6 min/mile while the 800s were probably in the 6:30-6:40 range.  It felt good to run fast and the legs actually feel pretty good right now.

Another Pace Run

Went out for a nice run with Travis Monday - kept the pace slow and increased:  8:42, 8:18, 7:47, 7:10 and 8:21 for the last .6 mile.  Hopefully the rain/snow won't be too bad tomorrow and I can get in another good run.  Felt awesome.  Spring is sprunging.

A Long Time Coming.

I ran into work for the first time since moving form Mystic.  Today: Arlington -> Cambridge via Fresh Pond; about 6.8 miles (forgot to start gps at one point so it's a bit of an estimate).  about 58 minutes.  Pace was a shade over 8:30.  It felt hard - not certain as to why.  Even had pasta the night before.  But for the week - things went well: ints, mild-tempo and a long run.  It's probably been a very long time since i've hit all three in one week.

Perfect Progression

Windy as all hell out there today - but managed a nice 4.6 mile loop.  Held back the first mile: 8:19; 7:43 second mile; 7:35 third mile; 7:34 fourth mile and 7:38 last 0.6.  That is pretty good pacing - if anything I need to dial back the splits a little.  The last 1.6 miles felt hard going into the wind - but the buildings along the Cambridge side seemed to shelter the worst.

2x1600 Ints

Made it out today using my iphone/runkeeper.  The goals was to start ramping up the speed.  After crossing the bridge, I did the first mile at 6:43.  Had to work not to run faster, good thing to since the next mile hurt a little more: 6:53.  Groin was sore during mile 1.  I backed off a little for the second one and it seemed to loosen up a little.  Stretched it good tonight - I'll have to watch it.

Summer of George!

I've been about as good at blogging workouts as I have been at doing them recently.  I think there is a bit of drain from my google docs tracking and now I have (finally) an iphone with the Run keeper app.  I won't go back too far - other than to say that we got dumped on by a blizzard this time last week (pic).

I did manage last weekend to sign up for a 5K in Davis square sometime in March.  Feeling inspired - and very unprepared - I actually made it out 3 times last week:  a 4.7 miler with Larry Tuesday; a 5.8 miler Thursday (I did a few pickups - I think ~4x800s); Friday I did 4.3 - but tried to do the first 2.3 at about an 8:15 pace - and then run the back half faster - I finished at ~7:50 pace overall.

My family is headed out to visit the in-laws for the early part of this week.  I always get the 'summer of george' feeling now - all sorts of stuff I want to do.  One thing is take in a basketball game - I'm thinking unh@bu basketball tomorrow at 1.  I'd also have a list of crap to do:  food shopping, setup on-line stock account, find optomitrist, find lost contacts, recycle huge-ass tv; as well as work todos: setup postgreSql; simulation stuff, R code.  We'll see - in the end - it's less than 4 days.
