12 Miler Home

Today I ran 12.3 home at a pretty decent pace.  We went along the Charles for the first 5 miles, then up the back side of mount auburn and a loop around fresh pond before heading up through Belmont into arlington.  I wanted a 8-8:10 pace and we did 8s for 10 miles before slowing a little through Belmont and slogging up that last brutal hill.  I feel like absolute shit now.  It's been a long time since a short 12 made me feel like this, but that's the price you pay for skimping on distance for a few years.  Yesterday's fun likely didn't help.  I did 3 miles at a 7:30-7:40 pace - 4.5 total.  Off tomorrow - hills Thursday.

Hills and a Tempo Run

Wednesday brought hills: (60, 75, 90)x2.  A cold day to run and tough hills - but I felt strong running it - and my back held up nice.  Friday I had to go by myself.  I did the 4.7 loop - but ran 3.8 of it fast - a 7:3something pace.  3 pretty solid workouts this week.  Next week brings a 11-12 miler and more hills - but feeling pretty good about the approaching half.

9.1 miler

Ran 9.1 miles today, which promised to be the nicest day of the week.  Larry and I had some good miles on the back side and every mile was faster than the one before it.  Felt like a fast antelope for the first time in a while.

Resurrected Runner

What a year (2014) and what a winter (2015) - now it's back to work.  My plan is simple: 3 days a week running: hills/ints, long and med-tempo - end of May half and possible Philly in the fall.  Last week was good.  This week I continued with a 8.5 miler on Monday, hills yesterday and today: 6.5 with 3.4 miles at ~7:10 pace.  Feeling good about 2 consecutive weeks for the first time in a long time.  Hopefully i'll be able to keep alergies at bay and have a good spring.  Maybe blog more....
